WELCOME BACK!
Hello students and parents,
Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year. I look forward to working with each of you to learn and grow as a citizen and as an individual. I’ll be giving you much more information when the school year begins, but if you are shopping or preparing early for the school year, here is some information for each of the courses I teach.
Materials (the same for all classes):
- Composition Book
- Two Highlighters of Different Colors
- Gluestick
- Academic Planner/HW book
- Binder Paper
- Folder for storing important documents
- Access to a computer/printer (HW Center is available after school)
World History:
- Eight Units of study, chronological order. See tabs under World History for unit names and topics.
- Sophomore Project- For more information, look under the World History Tab
- Periods 1 and 2
United States’ History:
- Eight Units of study. See tabs under US History for unit names and topics.
- Periods 3 and 4
- Period 6 is SDAIE US History, which covers the same curriculum as regular US History but at a different pace with more focus on vocabulary and critical thinking skillbuilding.
And lastly, YES, I AM LOOKING FOR T.A.’s! If you are a reliable, consistent student with an open period 3, 4, 5, or 6, see me at the beginning of the year.

- A collection of documents on many world problems. Includes opposing viewpoints and governmental data.
- Hot Paper Topics Internet Guide
- Sets of information about many controversial issues, including opposing viewpoints.
- Almanac of Policy Issues
- Official policy on many social issues. Government and scholarly produced information.
- Global Issues Research
- Click on issues (on the top bar) and find your topic. Lots of information, including encyclopedia information, scholarly articles, current events and videos.
- Columbia Encyclopedia Online
- FindArticles
- Be sure to only search for Free Articles!
- Google News
- Google, but it only searches for newspaper articles!
- Google Scholar
- Just like Google, but it only searches for professional and scholarly articles, published by experts.
- Internet Public Library Ready Reference
- Reference Materials like Encylcopedias, Thesauri, Atlases and Almanacs, available 24/7
